Ecological Coffins are based close to Cardigan in West Wales and make unique, quality, simple and affordable coffins largely from recycled wood.
Our story began in January 2020 after I was asked to make a coffin for an environmentalist friend who had just died.
As a carpenter with over 20 years experience, I set out to design and make a quality handcrafted affordable ecological option.
The sides and lid of our eco friendly coffins are made using reclaimed wood. The base is made using recycled or FSC certified plywood. They can be lined with either calico or hessian and a cardboard headrest is supplied. The handles are made from strong manilla rope and are load bearing. Also included are handmade wooden name & date plates.
Our coffins are suitable for burial or cremation and have full CCSA accreditation. (I transferred my FFMA accreditation over to the CCSA in January 2023).
Coffins are made to order. Turnaround time can be as little as two days. Overnight nationwide UK delivery can be arranged for an extra cost.
I have been a finalist in the category "Coffin Supplier of the Year" at the Good Funeral Awards for the last three years, 2022, 2023 & 2024.
In 2023, I won the Green Company of the year award at the Good Funeral Awards.
Reclaimed wood coffins are £445.
(Includes crem film liner, name & date plates).
Extra for Calico or Hessian lining is £40.
To add a splash of colour, velvet or fabric handle tubes are £30.
Delivery is free within 15 miles of Cardigan.
Nationwide overnight delivery can be arranged. (overnight delivery in England, Wales & Southern Scotland is usually between £90 & £120 unless the coffin is longer than 6'4")
Payment can be made by Bank Transfer.
Terms are usually payment with order.
There is a surcharge of £50 for coffins wider than 24" or longer than 6'6".
